Fully Bespoke Orthotics

Do you always need to prescribe a bespoke orthotic?

Absolutely not. So long as you have a clear idea of the influence of the design features of a prefabricated orthotic on mechanics, an awareness of what prefabricated devices are on the market and can identify which one meets your requirements this could be suitable.

So why use bespoke devices?

Fully bespoke orthoses give you complete control over the three only modifiable variables customisable in any orthotic device. Regardless of manufacturer these variables are the magnitude of, direction of and temporospatial patterns of ground reaction forces. To alter these three variables, we can customise orthoses’ geometry and material properties.

At 3D Printed Orthotics we can incorporate variable densities within the one orthotic with a geometry specific to your patient and modifications. Our manufacturing is accurate down to 0.1mm. You also have complete control over the top cover choice and material properties here too! Furthermore, we are happy to work with you if you wish to use a different material or combination of materials to finish off your device.

This level of control and attention to detail will ensure your orthotic device is an exact representation of your prescription, with the required design variables and material properties to elicit a consistent, repeatable, desirable response.

Our orthoses are manufactured out of an elastomeric and thermoplastic polyurethane polymer. These can be produced in different shore hardness’ up to and including rigid carbon fibre devices. Our manufacturing technique results in a breathable, highly resilient orthotic, suitable for high weights without the fear of them breaking or deforming.

At 3D Printed Orthotics our standard top cover material is Nora. Nora is a closed cell EVA so will not absorb fluids or smells and can be wiped clean. Nora is thermoformable, vegan, latex-free and hypoallergenic and is widely considered to produce the highest quality orthotic products.

Nora is available in different thicknesses and shore densities, provides optimal cushioning, load distribution and management of shear forces whilst maintaining a high degree of resilience.

If requested, we will do our upmost to work with you to incorporate different materials or combinations of materials if that is your preference.

All our orthoses are U.K made and environmentally friendly.
